Valley Oak

While this project called for a complete overhaul of the space, we wanted to preserve and enhance some of the magic that was already there. The garden felt a little overgrown and wild, with clambering roses on an old arbor, a young squirrel-planted Valley Oak, and a spring-blooming crabapple. New raised beds provide space for sunflowers and tomatoes, a small patch of grass gives Willa, the new dog, room to play, and a few chairs in the sun offer an invitation to linger. We love the scent of musk sage mingling with the earthiness of an old redwood that towers in the back corner.
