Old Mill

Tucked into a hollow at the base of Mount Tamalpais — with nine adjacent neighbors, an intermittent spring, and a very determined raccoon — we set out to design a garden. We celebrated the existing oak and stalwart ginkgo, and introduced a sycamore, vine maples, and redbuds to provide privacy where it was needed most. A new hot tub, perched above the meadow, offers a quiet spot to step away. The kids pitched in with tool belts and sidewalk chalk, and soon the garden hummed with life.
